This week's shows
Torpidity set in over the winter? Never fear, a remedy is at hand, with the Twin Cities Heavy Hitters: Extreme Percussion show (8pm Sat Feb 6). Headliners Savage Aural Hotbed have been pounding out a primal wall of sound (and making the sparks fly) for 21 years, but along with some old favorites, for this show they'll be performing some new compositions made possible by a grant from the Jerome Foundation. Opening acts Minneapolis-based West African drumming group Barinya, and Brazil Carnival styled Batucada do Norte (founded by Tim and Pat O'Keefe) should ensure no one goes home somnambulating. Sponsored by 90.3 and 106.7 KFAI.
